  • Shawnee moved its 2012 fast-pitch record to the .500 mark Monday, besting visiting Noble 5-2 to go to 15-15. McKenzie Cooper surrendered four hits, struck out three batters and walked one while earning the win, and she helped her team offensively with a run-scoring triple. Teammate Baylee Schimmel went 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored as Shawnee finished with eight hits. Each team committed two errors. “I think we did what we had to do today, and we got a couple of timely hits,” said SHS coach Todd Boyer. Boyer praised freshman shortstop Kelsey Simmons with making “a couple of nice plays defensively.” The Lady Wolves were scheduled to go to Noble Thursday, but instead will go to El Reno for a 5 p.m. varsity encounter.
