Oklahoma Baptist has advanced two men’s players into the singles semifinals, two duos into the doubles semifinals in the USTA/ITA Regional in Shawnee.
Marco Carvajal advanced to the singles semifinals with straight set wins over Josh Wehenberg of Southwestern Christian and Alfred Mohan of University of the Southwest.
Carvajal will play University of the Southwest’s Felix Singer in one semifinal match, while OBU’s Dario Macanovic takes on Marek Ondruj of USW.
Macanovic advanced with a win over USW’s Max Sladovsky and a default from teammate Kolt Byerly.
Byerly won a three-set match over USW’s Alex Sandoval.
Agustin Janssen of OBU won his opener against SCU’s Matt Franks, but lost in the quarters to Singer. Francisco Da Silva reached the quarters with a three-set win over Santiago Quintero of USW before falling to Ondruj.
Bylerly and Janssen are in the men’s semifinals after beating Sladovsky and Quintero and Macanovic and Carvajal reached the semis after shutting out Mullins and Franks.
The women’s draw will have an all-OBU final in both singles and doubles.
Lili Fereirra moved to the championship with a 6-0, 6-2 win over teammate Kelsi Lord, who had eliminated OBU’s Iveth Luna in two sets. Fereirra will play Mariana Rosa for the title Saturday after Rosa dispatched Lady Bison teammate Ashlynn Abbe, 3-6, 6-4, 6-1.
Fereirra and Rosa will play Abbe and Luna in the doubles championship.
