A man convicted in the fatal shooting of a teenager at a Muskogee mall is scheduled to be sentenced.
Dondray Fowler is due in court Wednesday afternoon to be sentenced in the 2010 shooting death of 17-year-old Jarrod Reed at Arrowhead Mall. A jury convicted him of first-degree murder in July.
Prosecutors say Fowler intentionally shot Reed and wounded four others at the mall. But Fowler's attorneys claim the shooting was in self-defense because Fowler was intimidated during an argument between rival gangs.
The jury recommended a life sentence for Fowler.
Fowler's attorneys tell Tulsa television station KJRH that they're planning an appeal.
