A former Stillwater NewsPress publisher who also started two radio stations in Stillwater and served as commissioner of the Oklahoma Department of Public Safety has died.
The NewsPress reported Thursday that Bellatti died Wednesday at age 99. A cause of death was not given.
Bellatti worked at the Blackwell Tribune and at The Norman Transcript before moving to Stillwater in 1941 where he helped his father consolidate the Stillwater News, the Stillwater Daily Press and Stillwater Weekly Gazette. In 1947 he helped put radio stations KSPI-AM and KSPI-FM on the air.
He was commissioner of the Department of Public Safety in 1954 before returning to the newspaper and radio business.
Funeral services are set for 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Stillwater.
