Pottawatomie County deputies and other law enforcement officers are investigating the shooting death of a Norman man as a homicide.
Undersheriff Travis Palmer identified the decedent at Albert L. Rider, 53.
Rider, suffering a gunshot wound to the chest, reportedly crashed his vehicle into a pipe fence and gate at a residence on New Hope Road in Pottawatomie County Monday morning, Palmer said, where he told the homeowner he needed help.
Rider was transported to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City, Palmer said, where he died from his wounds.
Deputies, along with Cleveland County deputies, district attorney investigators and the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation spent Monday probing the case and are trying to piece together what happened.
Palmer said Rider's home, which is in Cleveland County, also was burglarized Monday, so deputies there were investigating that scene.
