  • Attorneys for a former Oklahoma State basketball player convicted of sexually assaulting two women at a party have filed notice that they'll appeal his conviction and sentence.

Attorneys for Darrell Williams filed the notice Wednesday, less than a week after a judge handed down a suspended sentence and ordered that Williams register as a sex offender. Williams was convicted in July of rape by instrumentation and sexual battery.

Prosecutors say he groped two women and reached inside their pants at a party in 2010.

Williams has maintained his innocence since his arrest and said he was the victim of misidentification. At last week's hearing, Williams sought a new trial but the judge denied the request before handing down the sentence.
