What began as a check into a suspicious vehicle parked in a Shawnee parking lot overnight netted two arrests after police found drug-related items and about 15 grams of methamphetamine.
Shawnee Police Officer Kevin Hughey’s narrative of the case shows he was on patrol in the 1800 block of north Kickapoo when he noticed a suspicious vehicle parked in a lot known to be a place where drugs are possibly being sold.
He drove past and returned a few minutes later, where he noticed a male who was standing beside the vehicle run inside a building and shut the door behind him.
A male and a female exited the car, the report shows, with the man also running to a door but unable to get inside. The woman stood by the car and didn’t move, the report shows.
Police checked both the suspects at the scene, where Cpl. Steve Hudgins and his K-9 also responded.
The dog alerted there were possibly narcotics in the vehicle. After further investigation, police found pills and other drugs, including what turned out to be total of 15 grams of methamphetamine.
Arrested at the scene were Angela Berry, 32, and Harris Lee Casey, 49, the report shows.
Formal charges have not been filed, but both suspects were booked into the Pottawatomie County Public Safety Center.
Reports show 13 grams of the meth allegedly belonged to Casey, while Berry allegedly had about 2 grams.
Berry, who has since posted bond, was jailed on complaints of possession of controlled dangerous substance, methamphetamine, while Casey remained jailed Friday on complaints of possession of CDS with intent to distribute.
    Watch for updates.
