  • Pedro Pereira had the winning goal and an assist to lead Oklahoma Baptist to an unlikely berth in the Sooner Athletic Conference championship game after a 2-1 win at Wayland Baptist Tuesday. The Bison, seeded seventh, will play at John Brown in Siloam Springs, Ark., Friday for a berth in the NAIA opening round. OBU claimed the win in overtime, avenging a regular-season home loss to the Pioneers. The Bison got on the board in the first half when Rodrigo Lopes headed in a cross from Pereira in the 41st minute. Miguel Teos beat the defense and scored from 27 yards out to tie the game in the 75th minute. The game went to overtime, and Pereira knocked down a penalty kick 7:32 into OT. Marcus Oliveira had three saves to pick up the win. OBU put seven shots on goal, including four by Pereira and one each by Lopes, Felipe Souza and Tito Silva. The Bison last played in the SAC Championship game in 2010, when they beat Oklahoma City, 2-1. Note: Report provided by Ray Fink, OBU sports information director.
