Defense dominated again Saturday in Oklahoma Baptist’s third and final intrasquad scrimmage of the fall. OBU’s offense scored once — on the final play of the day — when Blake Woodard avoided a heavy rush and found Jordan Barnes in the end zone for a 13-yard score. That play came on fourth down and was set up by a 57-yard pass play by Woodard to Derek Serowski. “I think we have to evaluate the entire body of work and not evaluate the progress based on today,” said OBU head coach Chris Jensen. “Obviously defense won the day today but OBU is still undefeated since 1940. We’ve made progress on offense and defense. This phase has been a grind on our kids, but they’ve responded in a great way. “The next phase starts Monday and we’ll hit the weight room and make sure we’re where we need to be for Aug. 31, 2013. That’s the next big date.” Injuries were the story of the day. Serowski mildly sprained his knee on the long play and Eric DeLay and Daryl Fields Jr. suffered ankle injuries. Fields’ injury required precautionary x-rays, the details of which are not yet known. OBU had four drives with 10 or more plays, but the defense had clamped down and stopped four fourth-down plays. The defense also recovered two fumbles and had one interception. The scrimmage was played in front of 42 recruits and a set of bleachers that were about 75 percent.
