  • Shawnee hosted its first women's conference Thursday, with women from several careers and companies in attendance.

  • Shawnee hosted its first women's conference Thursday, with women from several careers and companies in attendance.
     
    Attendees included professionals, city officials, and business owners.
     
    "I learned a lot about myself," Joyce Butler said. "The breakout meetings were perfect, they weren't too long, it was the perfect amount of time."
     
    "Next year, I will be here, and I'll have all my friends with me," Butler added.
     
    "It was not only an honor and privilege to attend, but also to speak at this year's conference," Katie Erickson said. "It was a wonderful experience to see so many talented and capable women come together in one room and share their talents with each other."
     
    Rita Murray spoke about the importance of relationships between different personality types.
     
    Katie Gordy spoke about maintaining happiness, and Lori Fullbright spoke about personal safety.
     
    "This has really been an inspiring conference," Charlene Norvell said. "There was a lot of talk about empowering women in the workplace, and in life in general."
