  • Oklahoma Baptist signed Abby Mayfield of Bridge Creek High School to compete in track and field. Mayfield was the Class 4A state runner-up in the 100 meters with a career-best 12.31 seconds, and was third in the 400 with a personal-best 57.72 seconds. She placed third in the 400 and fourth in the 100 in the Meet of Champions. She was Little All-City as a sophomore, winning state in the 100 and 400, and was fifth in both those events in the Meet of Champions under Bridge Creek High coach Skip Ashworth. Mayfield will run the 100, 400 and 4x100 and 4x400 relays at OBU. The daughter of Darren and Marcy Mayfield, Abby plans to major in sociology. “I chose OBU because of the good Christian atmosphere and the excellent track program,” Mayfield said. “It felt like home.” Note: Report provided by Ray Fink, OBU sports information director.
