  • Piedmont High School standout outfielder Emma Nelson signed Thursday to play softball at Oklahoma Baptist University. Nelson, an All-State selection, also earned All-Conference and All-Region honors after helping coach Rick Scott’s PHS squad to the 2012 Class 4A state finals. “Emma is a left-handed, speedy outfielder who will bring great depth to an already fast outfield,” said Lady Bison head coach Pam Fink. “We are looking forward to her suiting up as a Lady Bison.” Nelson batted .471, scored 55 runs and drove in 23. She also had one home run. Emma is the daughter of Ed and Alane Nelson. She said she selected OBU because “I loved the feel of the campus and the Christian environment.” Note: Report provided by Ray Fink, OBU sports information director.
