  • Seven Oklahoma Baptist athletes were named NAIA Cross Country Scholar Athletes, it was announced Friday.
     
    Emily Christiansen and Mariah Strong from the women’s team and Bison Cordell Baker, Neal Ellis, Austin Germiller, Samuel Whelan and Louie Cook earned the award.
     
    The requirements for the honor are junior or senior class standing and a cumulative 3.50 grade point average.
     
    Baker is a senior biology major from Sapulpa; Cook is a junior political science major from Waco, Texas; Ellis is a senior applied communications major from Midlothian, Texas; Germiller is a senior computer science major from Congress, Ariz.; and Whelan is a junior marketing and finance major from Parachute, Colo.
     
    Christiansen is a junior nursing major from Canon City, Colo., and Strong is a junior Bible major from Edmond.
