  • Tecumseh’s Lady Savages are off to 1-0 start for the 2012-13 season, thanks to a 56-53 overtime win Tuesday over Purcell.
     
    Sam Schovanec paced the Lady Savages with 18 points, including 4-for-7 from the free throw line. Gabby Rice and Sutv Meely scored 10 apiece, and Hillary Babbit went 9-for-10 on charity tosses in posting 11 points.
    Meely collected six steals and two rebounds, and Dominique Bear led Tecumseh in boards with six. Bear also picked up two blocks and two steals.
     
    Katy Whitekiller led Purcell and the game with 21 points.
     
    The teams shared a 7-all first-quarter tie, and Purcell managed a one-point (23-22) halftime lead. Purcell was up 36-31 after three quarters, and the game was deadlocked at 44 at the end of regulation.
     
    Tecumseh out-scored the Lady Dragons 12-9 in the extra session.
     
    Tecumseh’s boys are also 1-0 to start the season, topping Purcell 51-34 Tuesday. The Savages led 9-2 after one quarter, and 28-12 at the half.
     
    Alan Brewer and Colton Owen each dropped in 13 points for the victors, and Julio Hukill added 10. Jonah Northcutt led Purcell with nine.
     
    Tecumseh will host Harrah Friday. The Harrah Lady Panthers are ranked sixth in Class 4A.
