Bethel’s girls rode a 29-19 halftime lead to a 51-36 trouncing of Holdenville Friday, putting the Lady Wildcats at 1-1 for the season. The hosts led 39-26 after three quarters. “As a team, we did a good job of following a game plan,” said Bethel coach Jennifer Lynch. “Our post did a good job of attacking early, which allowed our guards open looks.” Bry Flanagan led Bethel — and the game — with 11 points. Kaitlyn Hodgins of Holdenville was next with 10, and Bethel’s Holly Carlile and Holdenville’s Liz Davis tied at nine. Win number one for Bethel’s boys was a blowout Friday night as the Wildcats mauled Holdenville, 66-27. Bethel (1-1) outscored the visiting Wolverines 40-13 in the second half. Another lopsided stat that stood out was rebounding where Bethel had a 45-24 advantage. Two Wildcats recorded double-doubles. Trevor Stark poured in 23 points and had 14 rebounds. Garrett Fitzgerald added 12 points and 10 boards. Fitzgerald also tallied five assists. Other scoring for Bethel included seven points fro Clint Simmons, six from Matt Watson and five for Taylor Mullendore. Bethel hits the road for its next game, traveling to Byng Tuesday.
