  • G.E. Oil and Gas confirmed its Shawnee location is expanding and will bring 20-25 new jobs to the area.

  • G.E. Oil and Gas confirmed its Shawnee location is expanding and will bring 20-25 new jobs to the area.
     
    The addition will include five new buildings and an additional parking lot, with 28,000 square feet of space added to their 14311 Highway 177 location.
     
    The parking lot will include 56 more parking spots.
     
    The additional buildings will include a welding shop, prep and storage areas and a safe room to be used for inclement weather.
     
    Construction is anticipated to begin in 2013, G.E. Spokesman Sean Gannon said.
     
    The preliminary plat was approved by the Shawnee City Commission at their Nov. 19 meeting. The approval included conditions:
     
    • Final infrastructure and construction plans (including an engineered drainage plan) to be approved by the City and City Engineer before construction begins.
    • The site will include a 20-foot easement along the Highway 177 frontage for the existing waterline.
    • The applicant shall make required public site improvements in accordance with construction plans approved by City Engineer, and adhere to other city codes.
