The Pirates, ranked No. 5 in Class 2A, upended Class 3A’s 13th-ranked team, Washington, 43-31, Friday night.
A ranked team from a higher classification didn’t intimidate Dale’s boys Friday night.
The Pirates, ranked No. 5 in Class 2A, upended Class 3A’s 13th-ranked team, Washington, 43-31, to improve to 4-1.
Dale held small leads for much of the first half and was up 21-16 at halftime. The Pirates clinched the victory by outscoring the visitors 16-7 in the fourth quarter.
“This was a good win for us,” Dale head coach Jeff Edmonson said. “Washington is very physical.”
Sophomore Caleb Banks led the Pirate attack with 14 points and eight rebounds. Close behind on the score sheet was Evan Anderson with 12 points and nine boards.
Hunter Pinkston had six points and seven rebounds. Jace Wilkins led Dale with nine assists.
The top scorer for Washington (1-1) was Cooper Treadway with 14 points.
The Pirates’ next game will be Tuesday at Holdenville.
Class 2A’s fourth-ranked Dale girls opened up a 14-point halftime advantage and beat Washington 50-29 Friday night to maintain a perfect 6-0 record.
Lexes Satterwhite scored all of her points from behind the arc for the Lady Pirates, nailing three treys and racking up three assists.
Breck Clark cooled off some from her 39-point performance Tuesday against Okarche, scoring 19 points. She went 9-of-10 from the charity stripe and got her hands on seven steals and four rebounds.
Danielle Dockrey snagged five boards for Dale.
Malia Wilsong led Washington with nine points, while Kelsey Johnson chipped in eight for the Lady Warriors, who came into the contest ranked No. 11 in Class 3A.
Dale will head to Holdenville next Tuesday.
