Shawnee’s annual Downtown Christmas Parade begins at 6:30 p.m. Thursday night.
The parade will feature at least 88 floats from local businesses and clubs as they make their way down Shawnee’s Main Street.
“It’s everything you can think of from a parade standpoint,” said City Planner Justin Erickson.
The annual community event draws a crowd to downtown Shawnee for the festive show, which is expected to include a visit from Santa Claus.
Before the parade, the 26th Annual Cans Film Festival will be held at the Hornbeck Theatre, 125 N. Bell.
For the admission price of two cans of food, per person, moviegoers can see “Thunderstruck,” starring OKC Thunder’s Kevin Durant. The doors open at 3:30 p.m. and showtime is 4:15 p.m. All of the food collected benefits the Shawnee Salvation Army’s Holiday Food Drive. Organizers said the movie will conclude in time for the Christmas parade.
