Bry Flanagan tallied 18 points in a losing cause Tuesday night as Byng registered a 47-44 victory over Bethel.
Bethel took a one-point lead with 40 seconds remaining but Byng hit two charity tosses for a one-point lead. After Bethel misfired on the front end of a 1-and-1 free-throw situation, Byng added two free throws at the six-second mark for the final margin.
Tanna Baker added 10 points for Bethel, which fell to 1-2. Byng, 2-1, led 34-28 entering the fourth quarter.
Christen Carrethers added nine points for Byng.
Bethel was just 13-of-22 from the free-throw line.
Bethel will challenge Meeker at 4:30 p.m. Thursday in opening-round play of the Oklahoma Baptist Tournament.
