Trey Maston hit a 3-pointer in the third quarter to give Shawnee its first lead of the game, and the Wolves earned a 42-34 win over host Durant Thursday night in the Durant Tournament. Maston led Shawnee (1-2) with 11 points and three treys. The Wolves scored by committee, with eight players notching at least three points. “We made adjustments when we needed to, and we kept our composure when we were down,” Shawnee coach Ron Arthur said. The Wolves trailed by nine heading into the closing stretch of the second quarter, but two quick baskets cut the Lions’ halftime lead to 20-15. Shawnee came out firing in the second half. Maston’s triple was part of a 15-4 run that stretched two quarters and put the Wolves in the lead for good. Shawnee outscored Durant 17-6 in the decisive third quarter. The Lions’ Cole Hughes led all scorers with 14. Zac Cater added eight for the hosts, who move to 2-2 on the season. Shawnee’s Luke Laster added seven points, while Theo Berry, Marquese Tramble, Austin Cooper, Wolf Kienzle and T.J. Blochowiak each netted four. Shawnee will continue tournament play tonight against the winner of Thursday’s Denison (Texas)-Norman game. Tipoff is set for 8:20. Note: Report compiled by Chuck Porter.
