Shawnee's Lady Wolves, Class 5A's third-ranked team, overcame a 24-19 halftime deficit Friday to top Krum, Texas, 56-49 and reach today's championship round of the Bixby Tournament.
The win, which moves Shawnee to 4-0 on the season and gives the Lady Wolves a 33-game winning streak, ended Krum's winning streak at 33.
"We started off slow, and in the second half the girls really battled back to take the lead," said SHS coach Wendi Wells. "They were able to play really good defense."
Shawnee led 14-11 after the first quarter, and went back on top 37-36 to start the fourth.
Shawnee's Micaela Yu led all scorers with 19 points. Teammate McKenzie Cooper added 15. Kelsey Simmons led the Lady Wolves in rebounds with six.
Yu and Cooper each pulled down five boards, and Cooper led in assists with four. Shaiann Tramble, who supplied eight points for the victors, posted three assists and was 3-for-3 from the free throw line.
Cooper was 5-for-5 on free throws as the team went 13-for-15 (86.7 percent). The Lady Wolves were 17-for-29 (58.6 percent) from the floor, and 3-for-6 (50 percent) from 3-point range.
Shawnee will play for the tournament crown at 7 p.m. today.
