  • Bethel’s Wildcats dished out a 24-10 first-half lead Saturday en route to claiming third place of the Bison Invitational via a 43-32 count over Newcastle.
    The Wildcats reaped a game-high 14 points from Trevor Stark, and Clint Simmons chipped in 11. Simmons went 5-for-9 on free throws, and Andrew Kinnamon was 5-for-6 on foul shots in Bethel’s 12-point fourth quarter.
    The Wildcats led 31-21 after three quarters.
    Cale Asperheim led Newcastle’s Racers with nine points. Casey Freeman and Ben Persall added five apiece.
    Bethel opened the invitational with a 42-31 win over McLoud, and was dropped into the third-place bout with a 64-26 loss to Ada in the semifinals.
    Bethel will go to rival Dale Tuesday.
