Lady Racers pound Chandler in seventh-place game

Ashley Bryant scored 14, Miranda Curl added 13 and Newcastle raced past Chandler in the seventh-place game of the Bison Invitational Saturday, 50-25.

The Lady Racers jumped out to an 18-4 advantage after one quarter, thanks in large part to a 79 percent (11-of-14) night at the free-throw line.

Newcastle opened the tournament with a 50-30 loss at the hands of eventual champion Perkins-Tryon, then lost in the closing minutes to Meeker.

Chandler began with a 54-37 loss to McLoud and a 62-41 setback against Tecumseh.

Jasmine Gregg led the way for the Lady Lions with 10 points. Madison Kimble added 5.
