Courtney Edmonds poured in 22 points, Morgan Palmer added 12 and the Meeker Lady Bulldogs pulled away from Tecumseh for a 51-45 win Saturday in the Bison Invitational.
The victory locked up the consolation bracket crown for Meeker, which lost its opening game to Bethel 53-47 but squeaked by Newcastle 49-46 Friday to set up Saturday’s matchup against Tecumseh.
Tecumseh trailed by just two at halftime and maintained that deficit heading into the fourth quarter, but Edmonds, who was named to the all-tournament squad, scored seven of her team’s 13 fourth-quarter points to stuff the Lady Savages’ rally.
Sam Schovanec led Tecumseh with 12 points, while Hilary Babbit, Gabby Rice and all-tournament selection Sutv Meely each netted nine.
Tecumseh lost to tournament runner-up Ada 36-29 in the opening round, but scored the most points of any team in the tournament — 62 — in their consolation game against Chandler Friday, winning by 21 to set up the match with Meeker.
Meeker’s Palmer scored all 12 of her points from beyond the arc.
