Bry Flanagan scored 19 points, including 13 in the second half, to lead Bethel past McLoud 44-39 Saturday to claim third place in the Bison Invitational at Oklahoma Baptist University. Flanagan, who was named to the all-tournament team, and Genna Robinson out-dueled Erica Hostetter and the Lady Redskins in the fourth quarter. Robinson scored six of her eight points in the last frame to help Bethel pull away from their Highway 102 rivals. Hostetter, who only scored a point before halftime, caught fire in the fourth, scoring 10 points and hitting two shots from long range to keep McLoud close. Hostetter finished with a team-high 15 points. The Lady Wildcats, though, proved too much. The score stood at 28-22 in Bethel’s favor after three quarters, but the two teams exploded for 33 combined points in a dramatic final stanza. Erin Estep added 8 for the Lady Redskins, who lost to Ada 38-32 in Friday’s tournament semifinals after crushing Chandler 54-37 in the first round Thursday. After a six-point win over Meeker in Thursday’s opening round, Bethel lost their semifinal matchup, 40-22, to eventual champion Perkins-Tryon Friday. The Class 3A top-ranked Lady Demons notched a 43-23 win over Ada Saturday night to seal the tournament crown. Note: Report compiled by Chuck Porter.
