Lady Hornets take consolation crown

Macomb rode a 27-9 halftime lead to a 47-30 win over Moss Saturday in the girls’ consolation finals at the Little River Conference Tournament at Seminole State College.

Kelsea Hasbell dropped in six shots from 3-point range to lead the Lady Hornets and the game with 20 points. Destiny Redmon added a dozen for Macomb, now 5-2 on the season.

Michaela Phillips led Moss with 11 points.

Macomb reached the consolation finals with a 58-52 win over Sasakwa Friday. The Lady Hornets trailed by seven after the first quarter, but took a 27-23 lead into the second half before exploding for 25 points in the fourth quarter.

Shania Pace of Macomb had a game-high 31 points.

Macomb will go to Bowlegs Tuesday.
