Shawnee High School’s boys took first place with 537.5 points, and the girls took second with 326 points Friday at the Mid-Del meet at Rose State College. The combined team scores came to a first-place mark of 863.5 points. Other teams participating included Mid-Del, Carl Albert, Putnam City West, Tecumseh, Seminole and Bethel. For the Wolves, the 200-meter medley relay team of Jon Matanane, Sean Winegarnder, Cade Chlouber and Mark Roselius took first place, and the 200-meter freestyle relay team of Weston Foote, Matanane, Chlouber and Roseius was first. Shawnee’s 400-meter freestyle relay crew of Foote, Michael Heon, Logan Schultz and Winegarnder was second. Winegardner recorded a first-place outing in the 100 breaststroke, while Roselius was first in the 50 freestyle. The Wolves dominated that event as Chlouber took second, Foote took third and Heon took fourth, and 10 of their teammates all placed in the top 25. Schultz was third in the 100 breaststroke, and Matanane was third in the 200-meter freestyle. The Wolves did well in the 100-meter freestyle as Roselius took first, Foote took third and Heon took fourth, and five of their teammates were also in the top 12. Jackson Baugh and Branden Duff were second and third, respectively, in the 100 backstroke. For the Lady Wolves, Kaitlin Hampton was first in the 100 backstroke, while teammates Breanna Barnett and Corla VanDyne were third and fourth, respectively. Myranda Troup was second in the 100 freestyle, and third in the 400 freestyle. In the 50 freestyle, Shawnee’s Ana Leon took second, and Hampton was second in the 200 individual medley. The 200-meter medley relay team of Troup, Veronica Ortiz, Hampton and Barnett was first, and the Lady Wolves took second in the 200 freestyle relay with the crew of Hampton, Ortiz, Ana Leon and Troup. The 400-meter freestyle relay team of Barnett, VanDyne, Magan Smith was second. Ortiz was first in the 100-meter breaststroke. Shawnee will compete Jan. 8 against host Casady. For Tecumseh High School, Kaleb Hatton took second Friday in the 200 freestyle, and he was first in the 100-meter butterfly. Seminole’s Julianne Zehren was third in the 100 freestyle.
