  • Salvation Army, along with Walmart, hosted their first Fill the Truck event last weekend.

“It went well,” Salvation Army Lt. Philip Canning said.

More than 600 toys were collected, along with 50 coats, Canning said.

He added that the Angel Tree is still up at Walmart, and encouraged people to get their gifts in by Friday, Dec. 14.

If someone did not want to take an angel off the tree, the Salvation Army also accepts individual toys, such as board games, and coats.

Canning added that children’s size 7-8 coats are needed.

“Please turn in the angels by this Friday so we can go ahead with the distribution,” he said.

Distribution will begin Friday, Dec. 14 and continue through the week, Canning said.

Canning also thanked the community for their support.

“Without the community support we couldn’t do what do on a daily basis,” he said.
