  • Blalock 50th anniversary

  • John (Wes) and Jill Blalock of Shawnee celebrated their 50th anniversary with a reception from 3 to 6 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012, at Lincoln School in Seminole. The reception was given by Bobby and Wanda Barton of Shawnee and Linda and Larry Harris of Seminole.

  • John (Wes) and Jill Blalock of Shawnee celebrated their 50th anniversary with a reception from 3 to 6 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012, at Lincoln School in Seminole. The reception was given by Bobby and Wanda Barton of Shawnee and Linda and Larry Harris of Seminole.
     
    Jill and Wes renewed their wedding vows at the reception.
    They eloped on Dec. 15, 1962, at the Little Brown Church of Hollywood, Calif.
     
    Wes retired from GM after 36 years and moved to the Oklahoma GM plant in 1979.
     
    Jill was employed at K-mart for nine years, Montgomery Wards for 13 years, and The Shawnee News-Star for five years. She has been retired since 2009.
     
    The couple moved to Oklahoma City in 1979. Wes transferred to the Oklahoma City GM plant from San Fernando, Calif. Both sons went to Bethel schools, and Jill also worked and managed the home.
     
    Since retirement, they have traveled. Wes enjoys riding his Harley, and Jill enjoys crocheting. They both enjoy card games, dominoes and getting together with family and friends.
     
    Their children are Jack Blalock of Tecumseh and Jason Blalock of Shawnee.
     
    Their grandchildren are Sarah, Shelby, Mason Blalock and Kyle Spears, all of Shawnee.
