A Tecumseh couple received new names early Tuesday morning – Mom and Dad.
Zachary and Ashleigh Phipps welcomed their son Isaac Joe to the world at around 4 a.m. Tuesday.
He is their first child.
Isaac weighed nine pounds and seven ounces and was 21 inches long when he was born.
Ashleigh was relieved when Isaac was born, because he was due Dec. 27.
“It wasn’t too bad when the day came and passed,” she said. “I was like ‘I’ve made it this long.’”
Ashleigh ended up being induced, and though the labor took more than 12 hours, she said it didn’t seem long.
“It passed really quickly,” she said.
Zachary added that he wasn’t too worried, and was more worried about his wife going into labor the previous Thursday – the same day a large storm was forecasted.
“I was pretty calm the whole time,” he said.
Both parents laughed when they considered Isaac’s birthday. It will be easy to remember, they said.
“We’re just glad he’s here and he’s healthy,” Zachary said.
“That’s all we wanted,” Ashleigh added.
