  • Robert Wayne “Buck” Summers, 88, passed away Jan. 3, 2013, at home in Williamsburg, N.M.
     
    He was born May 24, 1924, in McLoud to Robert Lon Summers and Emma “King” Summers.
     
    Buck served in the U.S. Army from June 1943 to January 1946. He was a Sergeant in the 482nd Bombardment Squadron.
     
    He was preceded in death by his father, mother, brother, Tom Summers, sister, Thelma Barton, and grandsons, Shorty Ray Mauldin and Joshua David Mauldin.
     
    He is survived by one brother, Aubrey Summers of Wichita, Kan.; one sister, Katherine Potts (Jerry) of Salida, Colo.; two sons, Robert D. and Jerry W. Summers of Las Cruces, N.M.; two daughters, Fara E. Williams (Danny) of Clovis, N.M.; Katie L. Mauldin (David) of Williamsburg, N.M.; 11/grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren and cousins, nieces and nephews.
     
    Graveside services are being handled under the direction of the Walker Funeral Service in Shawnee and will at 1 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 10, at Dale Cemetery, Shawnee.
