  • Summer Powell knocked down five treys en route to racking up 22 points as Meeker toppled Seminole 75-52 Tuesday night.

The victory makes 10 wins on the season against just two losses. Meeker also found itself ranked for the first time this season, checking in at No. 19 in Class 3A in Tuesday’s latest rankings.

“[Meeker coach Lisa Pettitt] is doing a wonderful job over there,” Seminole head coach Harlan House said. “She’s really got them gelling. They’re no longer a doormat. They really came to play tonight.”

The Lady Bulldogs led by 10 heading into halftime, and outscored the Lady Chieftains (3-5) by at least five points in each quarter.

“That was probably our best team effort of the season,” Pettitt said. “We had 21 assists. Everyone was finding the open girl. Just really unselfish play from everyone."

Pettitt said it also helps to have a wide array of scorers that can lead the team. Tuesday it was Powell, who notched a season high.

Despite the loss, Harlan is seeing improvement from his team. “Each time we step out on the court, we’re playing a little bit better for a little bit longer,” he said. “Hopefully we can put it all together here pretty soon.”

Meeker’s Taylor Standlee and Cortney Edmonds joined Powell in double figures, with 14 and 10, respectively.

Maddie Perry’s 18 points and Bailee Lucas’ 11 led the home team.

Seminole will head to Bethel for the first round of the CD Warehouse Classic Thursday where they’ll challenge the host Lady Wildcats at 4:20 p.m.
