Shawnee will welcome a new restaurant to replace Garfield’s on Kickapoo Street, near I-40, which recently closed.
Buck Warfield, president of Enduring Brands, confirmed that a Bricktown Brewery will be placed in the building, though he could not confirm a date.
Warfield said he hopes the restaurant will be open by mid-March.
He described Bricktown Brewery as a “beer-centric casual diner.”
Warfield said he had purchased the company and planned to expand.
“We’re doing a concept change,” he said.
Warfield added that he believes this will benefit Shawnee. He described his business as having a casual environment with friendly service, which he expects will be easy to find in Shawnee.
“Do I think that will fit in Shawnee? Absolutely,” Warfield said.
The restaurant will be a place for singles and families, he added.
Through the restaurant, Warfield estimated 60-70 jobs will be added to Shawnee. Additionally, he used some Garfield’s employees to work on some of the demolition, and hopes to bring back some previous Garfield’s employees in the future.
“The end product is we get to keep some good guys,” Warfield said.
He emphasized that his company will use as many local products as possible, including local people when he can. He used the Imes Group, a local project management company working with him on the project, as an example.
“If we can find an Oklahoma product, or local product, we try to use it whenever we can,” Warfield said.
