Two Lincoln County children sought as part of an Amber Alert Thursday were found safe and their mother was taken into police custody.
The Amber Alert for Kylee Nichols, 7, and her brother, Blake Nichols, 4, was issued after the two were reported missing from their father’s home, located on County Road 931 near Wellston.
The children were discovered missing at about 7:15 a.m. when the father went to wake them up and get them ready for school, authorities said.
According to the Amber Alert issued by the Department of Public Safety, the children were believed to be with their non-custodial mother and also were believed to be in danger.
The Amber Alert was requested by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, which reported the mother, Misty Hausam, 30, was allegedly unstable and “uses drug heavily.”
The Amber Alert was broadcast over the radio and TV as the search commenced. By mid-afternoon, the Amber Alert was canceled when the children were found safe in the Oklahoma City area and returned to their father’s care.
No other information was released on how the siblings were tracked down, but it appeared the mother was taken into police custody as a result of the ordeal, although no formal charges have been filed.
Jail records showed Hausam was booked into the Lincoln County jail in Chandler. Officials there wouldn’t release the complaints for Hausam was jailed.
