  • Wolves first, Lady Wolves third on road

  • Shawnee’s Wolves finished with 120 points and first place Friday at a meet held at Cameron University, while the Lady Wolves notched third place with 55 team points.

  • Shawnee’s Wolves finished with 120 points and first place Friday at a meet held at Cameron University, while the Lady Wolves notched third place with 55 team points.
     
    Lawton Eisenhower, with 67 points, was the girls’ team champion, and Lawton MacArthur (65) was runner-up. Runner-up on the boys’ side was Lawton with 68 points.
     
    For the Wolves, the 200-meter medley relay team of Jon Matanane, Sean Winegardner, Cade Chlouber and Mark Roselius notched first place with a season-best time of 1:48.97. Matanane, Chlouber and Roselius were joined by Weston Foote for the 200 freestyle relay, and that group also took first with a season-best time of 1:34.30.
     
    In the individual events, Roselius was first in the 100-meter freestyle, and Josh Kalies was second in the 500-meter freestyle. Foote took third in the 100 freestyle.
     
    The Wolves dominated the 50-meter freestyle as Roselius and Chlouber were second and third, respectively. Seven other SHS swimmers placed in the top 10 of that event, including Foote at fourth and Matanane at fifth.
     
    Matanane was also third in the 100 backstroke, and Winegardner logged a state qualifying time of 1:11.84 as he finished second in the 100 breaststroke. Teammate Logan Schultz was third in that event.
     
    The Wolves took first in the 400-meter freestyle relay with the quartet of Foote, Michael Heon, Rohr Raney and Winegardner. Guy Johnson, Luca Ludwig, Mitchell Manlapig and Branden Duff took third for Shawnee in the 400.
     
    For the Lady Wolves, the crew of Breanna Barnett, Veronica Ortiz, Kaitlin Hampton and Karoline Wiens claimed first place in both the 200-meter medley relay and 200-meter freestyle relay.
     
    Hampton was first in the 100 butterfly, and third in the 100 backstroke. Ortiz took first in the 100 breaststroke.
    The Lady Wolves competed with just six entrants Friday.
    Shawnee will host a meet at the YMCA at 5 p.m. Jan. 17.
     
    Tecumseh’s Kaleb Hatton placed second in the 100 butterfly, and Seminole’s Julianne Zehren took second in the 100 freestyle and third in the 50 freestyle.
     
    Bethel’s Destiny Osife was fourth in the 50 freestyle.
