  • Oklahoma Baptist teammates Cordell Baker and Andy Peffer are Sooner Athletic Conference Men’s Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week for Jan. 7-13.
     
    Baker, a senior from Sapulpa, won the mile run at the Herm Wilson Invitational, hosted by Wichita State, in 4:19.02. His time in the mile is the fastest so far among NAIA runners this season.
     
    Peffer, a senior from Elk City, placed third in the pole vault, clearing 16-1.25. That height ranks third in the NAIA to this point in the season.
     
    Oklahoma Baptist athletes Jura Levy and Evan Shimanek are Sooner Athletic Conference Women’s Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week for Jan. 7-13.
     
    Levy, a senior from Trelawny, Jamaica, placed second in the 60 meters in 7.36 seconds at Wichita State’s Herm Wilson Invitational. It is the top time in the NAIA so far this season.
     
    She also ran the second leg of the 4x400 relay, placing third with the No. 3 NAIA time of 3:55.23.
     
    Shimanek, a senior from Hennessey, placed third in the pole vault at 12-5.5, which is the top height in the NAIA so far this season.
