  • As Class 2A’s sixth-ranked Dale Pirates claimed the title game of the Konawa Tournament Saturday with a 57-42 win over the host Tigers, senior Evan Anderson reached a career milestone by surpassing 1,000 points and 500 rebounds.

Anderson, who finished the championship game with 28 points and 16 boards, is on a six-game double-double streak that includes 20 or more points per contest.

“He’s had a good career, and he’s really been stepping up,” said Dale head coach Jeff Edmonson, whose Pirates are 13-3 on the season. “He’s been playing hard and we need him to keep it up through the playoffs.”

Anderson had double-doubles in all three games of the Konawa Tournament. He opened with 21 points and 16 rebounds in the first round, and then netted 32 points while pulling down 15 boards in the semifinals.

“He was awesome at the tournament,” Edmonson said.
Anderson’s current average is 19 points and nine rebounds per game.

The Pirates, now on a six-game winning streak, will resume play Friday at McLoud.
