It was hard for coach Larry James to find much fault in his team’s performance Tuesday night after they destroyed Ada 60-6 in their first district wrestling dual of the season.
The Wolves racked up three falls — Bryce O’Connor (113), Colby Daniels (138) and Daylan Stuteville (160) — to go along with four forfeits and six decisions.
Ada’s only points came via a forfeit at heavyweight in the final match of the evening.
Shawnee’s victories by decisions came from Bailey Moon (126), Cameron Comer (132), Thomas Shepard (170), Walker Smith (182), Gage Humphrey (195) and Robert Selumber (220).
Comer was a 12-11 victor over Austin Freezel and Selumber went to overtime before defeating Royce Garvin 6-4.
Shawnee, ranked fourth in class 5A, went to 4-1 in overall dual action.
“We wrestled really well. It’s good anytime you don’t lose a match,” said James. “We still have room for improvement because we still have goals to meet. But we have to get better.”
Shawnee faces a 7 p.m. dual Thursday night at Carl Albert. The Wolves will compete Friday and Saturday at the Coweta Tournament.
