This Friday evening the Historic Ritz Theatre begins its new season featuring a popular fiddler.

Friday evening beginning at 7 p.m. the Historic Ritz Theater kicks off its show season with fiddler Wayne Cantwell. At the age of 18 Wayne Cantwell laid down his rock and roll electric guitar, picked up a fiddle and never looked back.

Known as the Fly’n Fiddler, Cantwell has been playing traditional and Celtic music in Oklahoma for over 30 years. Along the way in his musical journey he has also picked up the Appalachian mountain dulcimer and the 5- string claw hammer banjo.

Friday evening Cantwell will perform with all these instruments. Along with Cantwell’s one man show, the Ritz Radio Players off the air and on the stage will perform comedy skits, hosting the 100th annual Bullfrog Jump Classic and The Case Of The Missing One Eyed Peg Leg Parakeet.

Cantwell will also be challenged to a duel as banjo squares off against trombone. Tickets are $7 Adults, $5 Seniors and Students.

Other shows to follow; Romancing The Ritz Feb. 15, The Bilge Pump Pirates Feb. 23, Wildcat Katy Brown March 1–3 and the first Ritz Great Piano Throw-Down March 9.
