The accident occurred about 12:53 p.m. Wednesday on Interstate 40, about one mile west of Peebly Road.
Jerry Wynn Crockett, 51, Wanette, died at the scene, the patrol reported.
The OHP reported Crockett was driving a 2002 Pontiac Grand Am eastbound on I-40 when his vehicle departed the roadway to the right and struck a tree. The impact caused his vehicle to overturn one-half time, the patrol reported.
Crockett suffered head and internal trunk, leg and arm injuries.
Troopers investigating the crash reported Crockett was not wearing a seat belt. Cause of the collision was listed on the trooper’s report as unsafe speed for traffic conditions.
