Class 5A’s No. 4 Shawnee Wolves closed out their home dual campaign with a resounding 62-9 win over Harrah on senior night Tuesday.
Five Shawnee seniors were wrestling in their final home matches, and four came away with wins.
Michael Smith, wrestling at 120 pounds, scored an 11-2 major decision over Ryan Rutherford. Fellow senior Daylan Stuteville (160) pinned Harrah’s Zane David in 3:59.
Shawnee’s Corey Todd (145) finished his home career with a 14-2 major decision over Mike Gore, while Robert Selumber won his last home match by forfeit.
Clayton Stafford (138) was the lone senior on the losing end of his bout, a 4-0 decision to the Panthers’ Jace Curry.
Including Stuteville, seven Wolves won their matches by fall.
Bryce O’Connor (113) pinned his opponent, Daniel Monroe, in 1:14. Bailey Moon (126) won by fall in 5:15 over Carson Rinaldi.
Cameron Comer (132) pinned Cody Gore in 3:47, while Matt Daniel (152) took down Dalton Hanson in 1:36.
Thomas Shepard (170) pinned Panther Tim Hines in 1:27.
At 195 pounds, Gage Humphrey rounded out the Wolves’ dominant night on the mat, pinning Harrah’s Chase Smiley in 3:02.
Shawnee’s Nick Poncho (106) and Walker Smith (182) also walked away with wins by decision — Poncho 15-8 over Braeden Visniski and Smith 9-5 over Colton Musik.
The win qualifies the Wolves for the Dual State Tournament.
Next up for Shawnee is a dual Thursday at Cushing.
