  • Earlsboro watched an early lead dwindle Tuesday as the Wildcats suffered a 61-54 first-round loss to Allen in the Tri-County Tournament at OBU’s Noble Complex.
     
    Earlsboro trailed just 14-10 coming out of the first quarter, but a 21-15 spree on Allen’s part left the Wildcats chasing a 35-25 deficit into the second half.
     
    The Mustangs led 47-38 to start the final eight minutes of play.
     
    The Wildcats picked up a game-high 19 points from Connor Kelsay, and a baker’s dozen from Ethan Bateman. Derick McCormick struck for 10.
     
    Allen’s Jaret Holland netted 15 points, and Tommy Peay and Lane Mills picked up 11 each as the Mustangs punched their ticket to an 8:45 p.m. semifinals showdown Friday opposite Wetumka.
     
    Wetumka defeated Asher 60-57 Tuesday. Earlsboro and Asher will meet at 8:45 p.m. today on the consolation side.
