  • A suspect who was shot by a McLoud homeowner during a reported overnight burglary remained hospitalized Friday.
McLoud Police Major Carol Pendley said the shooting incident occurred about 4:18 a.m. Thursday morning at a home on the city’s south side after the homeowner awoke to find a burglar coming through a door of his home.
“The homeowner called and reported he had just shot a man,” she said. The wounded suspect fled the scene.
Hours later, a man arrived at a Midwest City hospital with a gunshot wound, she said, and claimed he had been shot somewhere on Scott Street in that area.
Police there began investigating, Pendley said, with that investigation allegedly linking that shooting victim to the McLoud case.
Pendley said the department isn’t releasing the name of the homeowner or the suspect in this case, although she said the suspect is a 26-year-old male.
The homeowner, who Pendley described as an “older gentleman,” was extremely shaken up following the ordeal.
Police don’t anticipate seeking any charges against the homeowner, Pendley said, but investigative reports will be turned over to the district attorney’s office for consideration of charges involving the burglary.
Pendley said more information in the case could be released early next week.
