Class 3A’s No. 16 Meeker got 14 points from Summer Powell and a double-double from Cortney Edmonds to cement a 53-27 victory over Stroud in Saturday’s third-place game in the 66 Conference Tournament.
“We really put four quarters together today,” Meeker head coach Lisa Pettitt said of her team. “It was just a really good team effort.”
After opening up a two-point (10-8) lead after one quarter, the Lady Bulldogs went on a 13-2 run before halftime to open up a 13-point cushion. An 18-6 fourth-quarter spurt stifled any slim hopes of a Lady Tiger comeback.
Powell shot just 1-of-6 from inside the arc, but was a blazing 4-of-6 (67 percent) from 3-point range. Edmonds was 7-of-10 from 2-point range and controlled the paint, pulling down 11 rebounds.
Edmonds flirted with a triple-double, dishing out a team-high seven assists, while also notching four steals and two blocks.
Morgan Palmer recorded seven points and four assists, while Taylor Standlee posted eight points.
Meeker blasted Seminole 67-41 in opening round action before a heartbreaking 40-39 loss at the hands of Prague Friday to set up the third-place contest with Stroud.
The Lady Bulldogs improved to 13-4 on the season and will host Perkins-Tryon Tuesday.
