Though an official date has not been set, BCI Broadband has announced acquisition of Allegiance Communications.
Allegiance Communications is a broadband systems company with holdings in Shawnee, as well as Arkansas, Kansas, Texas and other parts of Oklahoma.
After the sale is complete, BCI Broadband plans to expand and upgrade equipment, according to a statement.
The equipment and service upgrades are expected to bring new jobs, as well as maintain many of the current jobs Allegiance created.
“Historically when we have purchased cable systems and invested in upgrading to the latest technology in markets like Shawnee, that has inevitably led to more customers and the need for more staff,” Shawn Beqaj, vice president of public and government affairs for BCI Broadband, said.
Beqaj said he does not know what date the service will change because the company is working with several communities, as well as the Federal Communications Commission, to finish the sale.
