Tecumseh's boys dropped to 1-1 since losing Colton Owen, succumbing to host Harrah 57-47 Saturday night, while an 18-2 second-quarter run helped Harrah erase a one-point deficit and run away from Tecumseh's Lady Savages, 48-31.
Tecumseh dropped to 1-1 since losing Colton Owen, succumbing to host Harrah 57-47 Saturday night.
Julio Hukill led the way for Tecumseh with 18 points, including 16 in the second half, but Harrah's 11-point halftime lead was too much to overcome.
"We shot the ball poorly. That's really what this game came down to," THS head coach Eric Litherland said.
The Savages (19-3) shot just 3-for-25 from long range, which is normally a staple of their high-scoring offense.
Tecumseh is still learning to adjust since losing their biggest post presence in Owen. Owen badly rolled his ankle against Seminole Tuesday, and Litherland doesn't expect him to be back until the regional playoffs begin.
Harrah was playing in one of the biggest games of their season.
"They seemed like they had some hop in their step," Litherland said of Class 4A's No. 15 Panthers, who were defending their home floor for homecoming.
"Harrah's a good team, and we came in with a target on our back, you know, being ranked fifth in 4A and on an eight-game winning streak," Litherland said. "You lose a good player like Colton and you shoot as poor as we did tonight, you're not going to be able to win a lot of games that way."
Alan Brewer chipped in 11 points for Tecumseh, while Tanner Pitchford and Dakota Davis each added six points.
Harrah's Colin James took home high-scoring honors with 19 points. Austin Jennings (12) and Dak Stevens (10) joined him in double figures.
In the girls' game, an 18-2 second-quarter run helped Harrah erase a one-point deficit and run away from Tecumseh's Lady Savages, 48-31, Saturday night.
Tecumseh (6-16) opened an 11-10 lead after one quarter, but Harrah, on the scoring of Bailey Mack (17), Darian Hill (10) and Ashley Dodd (10), was able to capitalize on its opportunities before the break.
Sutv Meely led the Lady Savages with nine points, including two treys. She also grabbed four rebounds and three steals.
Fellow Lady Savage Jalyn Williams added seven points, while Jennifer Goethe added two steals and two assists.
Tecumseh will play next Tuesday, Feb. 11, at Purcell.
