Family members are still waiting and hoping for word about a Shawnee mother of two who went missing more than seven months ago.
Samantha Weaver, 27, was last seen June 15 in Shawnee.
Police have been probing her disappearance as part of an extensive investigation, pursuing all leads.
Weaver’s sister, Christy Busch, of Harrah, said the holiday season was rough for the family. They’re still holding on to hope that Weaver might be found, although she said they fear and believe the worst has happened.
Busch said Weaver’s two young children, ages 2 and 7, don’t understand why their mother isn’t around. It heartbreaks Busch to hear them say, “I want my mommy,” she said.
“The whole family just needs closure,” Busch said. “Her girls need to know what happened to their mother.”
Busch said it’s been an agonizing seven months of waiting and wondering.
“Even at this point bad news is better than no news,” Busch said, adding if that’s the case, they hope to find Weaver’s body and “put her to rest.”
Busch, who said they continue to hang up fliers at areas around Shawnee, Meeker and Prague, said many of the fliers have been taken down over the past few months.
Busch finds that suspicious, she said, yet she continues to put them back up in hopes someone might recognize her sister and be able to provide new information that could lead police to her whereabouts.
Police have said that they suspect foul play in the case. Busch said her sister would never intentionally stay away from her children.
According to the family, Weaver reportedly went with friends to a casino in Norman, but the group came back to Shawnee, where it was reported a friend dropped Weaver off a few blocks away from a house in Shawnee.
Weaver reportedly sent a text message to her children’s father to say she was on her way to his home to see their children, but she never showed up and he reported her missing.

Shawnee police detectives have conducted numerous interviews and have checked several addresses in the search for Weaver, including a search of two properties in Pottawatomie County.
Anyone with information about Weaver or this case can call Crimestoppers, 405-273-0989 or Shawnee police at 273-2121.
    Watch for updates.
