Trevor Stark exploded for a career-high 40 points, leading Bethel’s Wildcats to a 76-39 bludgeoning of visiting Little Axe Tuesday.
Stark, who outscored the Indians by himself, also posted a double-double with 14 rebounds.
Stark, who was averaging 12.5 points, had 24 points by halftime as the Wildcats stormed to a 38-12 advantage.
“I’m just happy for him,” Bethel coach Jason Thomason said. “He’s come a long way since we got here. He’s grown a lot. “To do it on senior night has to be pretty special for him. I’m just very happy with his progress.”
The Wildcats held a slim 8-7 lead after one quarter, but Bethel detonated in the second quarter, running the one-point lead to 26 at halftime.
Bethel’s Clint Simmons notched 14 points. Teammate Garret Fitzgerald added a half-dozen.
Bethel’s Lady Wildcats received scoring from 10 players Tuesday night in walloping Little Axe 57-33.
The 13-8 Lady Wildcats launched the game with all five seniors — Holly Carlile, Morgan Davenport, Tariah Brooking, Gabby Robinson and Tanna Baker — on the court. Baker, who was injured against Dale, was able to start and Bethel coach Jennifer Lynch then called a quick timeout to get a substitute in.
Sophomore Bry Flanagan of Bethel led all scorers with 16 points. Carlile finished with 10 and Davenport chipped in with 6.
The seniors also finished the game on the court.
“We will greatly miss their hard work,” Lynch said.
Bethel led 12-3 after one quarter and 34-15 at the intermission.
Bethel will play host to McLoud Friday night.
