  • Municipals races develop in McLoud, Maud, Wanette, Pink; others win unopposed

  • Following a three-day candidate filing period in Pottawatomie County, races have developed in several towns while some candidates have won their prospective seats without opposition.

    Following a three-day candidate filing period in Pottawatomie County, races have developed in several towns while some candidates have won their prospective seats without opposition.
    All four seats in McLoud will go before a vote of the people.
    For the Ward No. 1 seat, the candidates are Becky Carpenter, 50, and Philip Leslie Solinger, 57.
    For Ward No. 3 in McLoud, there are five candidates. Jon Barrett, 65, Tim McGuinness, 41, Ann Pearce, 57, Pete Pendley, 68, and Ralph E. Schilb, 75, are vying for that seat.
    Candidates for Ward 4 are Chandra Heitzinger, 39, Ronald Kenyon, 66, and Thomas Morris, 69.
    For the council member at-large seat, the candidates are Ruben Abilez Jr., 55, Frank Pearce, 62, Robbie D. Remington, 43, Steven Michael Tomaszewski, 57, and James Woods, 70.
    Three seats are open in Maud and there will be elections for those as well.
    For Maud’s Ward 1, Randy Horn, 54, Terry McCracken, 51, and Carl Parramore, 77, are running for that seat.
    In Ward 2, Roger Cunningham, 48, James Haws, 61, and Don R. Lam, 66, filed for the seat.
    Ward 4 candidates in Maud are Lisa Armstrong, 42, and Woody I. Hopkins, 55.
    In Bethel Acres, both open seats were won without opposition.
    Curtis R. LaMastus, 55, won the Office No. 4 seat, while Jane Schuster, 65, drew no opponents for the Town Clerk-Treasurer position.
    In Pink, Mike Green, 61, is unopposed for the Office No. 4 seat.
    A race has developed for Office No. 2 in Pink between Harvey Babbit Jr., 64, and Jamille Parris, 44.
    In Wanette, Frank Sturgill, 71, took one board of trustees seat while James Buxton, 57, and Roy VanSchuyver, 68, are candidates for the other seat.
    In Asher, Wesley R. Culwell Jr., 58, won a trustee seat unopposed, as did Reva Hamilton, 67.
