  • An early deficit proved to be too big an obstacle for Prague’s girls to overcome Friday night as they fell 32-25 to Class 3A third-ranked Perkins-Tryon.
     
    Perkins-Tryon jumped out to a 14-2 lead after one quarter but settled for a 17-10 halftime advantage.
     
    Early in the second quarter, Prague trailed 17-2 but ran off eight unanswered points. Prague also missed four free throws during that comeback attempt.
     
    The Demons held a 27-17 lead entering the final eight minutes.
     
    Prague, ranked 13th in 3A, was led in scoring by Corbin Coker with six points. Landrea Hixson added five points.
    “We showed some character after being down that much early,” Prague coach Jay Depanion said.
     
    Prague was 6-of-10 from the charity stripe and Perkins-Tryon was 6-of-9.
     
    In the nightcap, Prague’s boys dropped a 39-37 decision to Perkins-Tryon.
     
    Grayson Hamm of Prague missed a 2-point field-goal attempt at the final buzzer.
     
    Josiah Snyder led Prague’s scoring with 14 points. Teammate Tyler Ouderkirk had 13 points for the Red Devils as they dropped to 9-13.
     
    Both Prague teams will conclude their regular seasons Tuesday night at Meeker.
